Some facts about Leap Year!

"Leap Year" wasn't made to tease people, it is actually used to "fix" the error time misses in one year.

What is a leap year?
A leap year is a year in which one extra day has been inserted, or intercalated, at the end of February. A leap year consists of 366 days, whereas other years, called common years, have 365 days.

The year 2008 is a leap year. If you look at a 2008 calendar, you will see that February has five Fridays–the month begins and ends on a Friday. Between the years 1904 and 2096, leap years that share the same day of week for each date repeat only every 28 years. The most recent year in which February comprised five Fridays was in 1980, and the next occurrence will be in 2036. February 29, the leap day, has been associated with age-old traditions, superstitions and folklore.

Going Bongos!

So our friends Tarah and Dan got us, well me, hooked on Donkey Konga. It's a blast. I have been trying to find the game and bongos for a really good deal for awhile and I finally found some on ebay and won!! I've bid on many but finally won. I've been waiting for them in the mail for over a week because of the weekend and Presidents day so it has taken longer. Kaycee has caught on and everyday has to check the mail for her toys. Finally they came in the mail, but she was at Jena's house so I waited to open them until I picked her up. I knew that she would get a big kick out of finally getting "her toys" and she was.

We don't have a Gamecube, but hey, I have the bongos; thats all that counts.

Conversations and Drama!

Kaycee had to buy another toy phone; she says it is for her baby boy. She is so silly, she just wanted another one. I can just see how it is going to be after the baby is born. "But mom, it is for my baby brother."

I let her get a blue and red phone and when we got home and got it out of the sack the first person she had to call was her Aunt Amy. She had talked to her, for real, earlier but needed to talk to her again. It was too cute. I wanted to grab a camera and record it but I couldn't find it. She is getting a lot better at talking in sentences. It is difficult to understand her over a real phone but in person it is pretty good. This is how it went...

"Hi, Mayme. How you doin today? Ha, ha, ha. What cha doin? Oh, ha, ha. I just playin. I just home. Where you at? I goin to namas in 1 months. You goin to be to namas? Oh, ha, ha, ha, you funny. Okay love you. See you. Bye. Love you. Oh, ha, ha. What cha doin? Oh, okay, bye, love you, bye."

Today she has been full of surprises and really clingy and crying for her baby boy. Out of the blue she came running into the office while I was doing homework and she threw herself on my lap and said, almost in tears, "Mommy I want my baby boy." She has been asking for him all day. At least she is happy to have him coming! Poor thing hates having to wait for everything.

My Very Observant Child

When we were in Castle Dale over Christmas break Kaycee was climbing on a little stool and fell. She was upset and a little hurt and her grandma said something like, "oh what a stupid chair," and gave it a little pat to help calm Kaycee down. I'm sure I would have done the same thing. WELL, she took the little stool into her grandma's bedroom, slapped it and said, "stupid chair, no" and slammed the door behind her leaving the chair in the room. WOW! That was a side of her I had never seen. I talked to her about how we don't hit and how we shouldn't say that word. Every once in awhile she would say or we would catch ourselves saying it and correct it. None of us realized how much we said "stupid" until this incident.

Since the break I have said it a couple times and caught myself, but most the time she hears first and will follow along and say it and laugh. So I taught her that when mommy says this word she should say, "no mommy, that is not a nice word." AND she does. She catches me ALL of the time. (What did I start?) Isaac says that I say it too much, well too much for Kaycee. So, today he said it and Kaycee scolded him. We don't realize we say it until Kaycee says something. She listens pretty good to. I told her to correct us and now she does. I will however put a stop to it when she corrects us just to be correcting us, or she corrects someone else.

Anyway, we were eating dinner and Isaac was talking about having too many "silly" tests or something and Kaycee stopped him and said, "dad, no. Not a nice word." Finally, he got caught by the very observant little girl. She wont hear anything else we tell her but boy she catches us when we say something we are not suppose to.
