Kaycee came in earlier and asked for some paper. I was trying to get something embroidered for my internship and work on Isaac's graduation announcements so I just handed her paper not asking why. She said she wanted to draw so I gave it to her. This is what I came into the living room to. She did her hair even.

Kooking with Kaycee Easter Baskets
We got a jump start on Easter and made Easter Baskets.
Chicken Baskets
Mix a can of chicken with Velveeta Cheese, Cream Cheese, Garlic salt, chopped onion and grated Parmesan Cheese. Line muffin tin with crescent roll dough. Then fill with mixture and bake on 350 for 10-15 minutes.
Parmesan Shaken, Not Stirred, Baby Red Potato's
Fill Ziploc bag with spices (we used garlic salt, Parmesan cheese, powdered ranch seasoning, ground pepper, a packet of potato seasoning). Cube baby red potato's and cover in melted butter. Put in bag and shake. Coat well. We mixed our chopped potatoes with the seasoning in the bag but you can add them later because it got really messy. Empty continents in pan. We sprinkled more Parmesan cheese and ranch seasoning, covered and baked at 425 for 30 minutes. Stove takes longer to cook so it may be shorter. Uncover the last 5 minutes and bake for crispness.
Our fancy Chef Kaycee
Kaycee did her own hair can you tell? Isn't she beautiful. Kaycee has been doing these weird things with her mouth. She is so funny when she talks and sings with her tight lips. You can just tell what she looks like from this silly smile.

My Little Leprechaun

In school they read stories about Leprechauns and St. Patricks Day so they decided to have a green party. They had a sign up sheet and Kaycee and her friend Alexis chose to bring green cookies. All weekend she was counting down until St. Patricks Day because she got to wear green, have a green party and bring green cookies. We also made St. Patty treats for her class.

Kooking with Kaycee and FHE
Kaycee LOVES to cook and bake things so we have been cooking whatever she wants. The other night she decided she wanted Shepard's Pie. I guess they had it at school because we've never had it at home. After that we decided to have "Kooking with Kaycee" on Family Home Evening nights. She chose a few recipes out of the Taste of Home: Good Food Kids Love and today we made our first one, well two. We made a dessert for FHE.
Wagon Wheel Casserole
1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
1 large onion, chopped
8 ounces wagon wheel pasta; cooked and drained
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large green pepper, thinly sliced
1 jar (26 ounces) meatless spaghetti sauce
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
*In a large nonstick skillet, cook the beef, mushrooms and onion over medium-heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. In a shallow 3-qt. baking dish coated with cooking spray, layer the pasta, Parmesan cheese, green pepper, beef mixture and spaghetti sauce.
* Cover, bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Bake 10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Yield: 8 servings.
For FHE we did Setting Goals: http://www.ldssplash.com/fhe/fhe_lessons/goals/goals.htm
There are a few ways to do this lesson. Pick the sections you like, and print the things needed for each section that you use.
Strengths and Weakness - Give everyone THIS PRINTOUT and a pen or a pencil. Then have them write down all their good habits. You can give them some suggestions like saying their prayers every day, etc. Then when they are done with that have some of them tell what some of the good habit are. Then have them write down their bad habits. They don't have to say them if they don't want to. Give them a while. When they are all done have them look at there good habit and bad habit list and take a look at how long they are. Hopefully there good habit list is long. If it's not that is fine. If there bad habit list is long then tell them that is fine it just means we have things we need to work on. Then discuss how they can work on their bad habits. Printout THIS SCRIPTURE and read it to them. Talk about how we can make our weaknesses strengths if we work on them and with the Lord's help.
Setting Goals - We can set goals to over come our weaknesses or to accomplish things we have never done before (acquiring new talents, etc.). Use THIS PRINTOUT and discuss what goals we can set. Talk about some long term goals (saving for a trip, or college) and short term goals (reading our scriptures every day, etc)
What do we need to do to accomplish these goals?
When will we have accomplished them?
To write down one or two goals they want to accomplish on their paper.
Family Goals - This is a good opportunity to talk about family goals. Use THIS PRINTOUT to make some family goals that you cam work on together.
Bare your testimony that if we work on our goals, we can accomplish them with the Lord's help.
For dessert we had Ice Cream Piglets. The recipe was for Fruity Sherbet Piglet but we couldn't find just raspberry sherbet so we used strawberry ice cream.
Fruity Sherbet Piglet
1 small fresh strawberry
2 miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1 slice banana
1 toothpick
2 pink pastel miniature marshmallows
1 scoop raspberry sherbet
2 semisweet chocolate chips
Chocolate syrup, optional
*For piglet's ears, remove the stem from the strawberry; cut strawberry in half and set aside. For snout, press miniature chips into the banana slice. Insert the toothpick into the opposite side of the banana; set aside. For feet, snip slits into each marshmallow for piglet's toes; set aside.
*Just before serving, place a scoop of sherbet on an industrial serving dish; add marshmallow feet.
*Insert piglet's strawberry ears and chocolate chips for eyes. Attach the reserved snout. if desired, add a chocolate syrup "puddle."
Yield: 1 serving
